It kinda gives me life how much variety there is between what ages the bros were when the band broke up. Cause some people set JD as like 20 when it happened and like others set jd as a teenager and according to the trolls band together tiktok page jd is in his late 20s in band together so that means he would be like 9 years old max in cannon when the band broke up.

Personally looking at the flashback I think John Dory looks around 12 years old like he’s still got rosy cheeks and a baby face.

based on the magazine images the band started with just Bruce and John so like they’re basically the same age maybe 2 years between them. Then Clay joined so there’s probably a bit of a bigger gap between him and Floyd. Maybe like 3-4 years younger according to the band together like band page that dreamworks put out Floyd was originally referred to as the baby in the band before he out grew it and Branch joined.

So assuming that what dreamworks put out is legit in cannon JD was 9 when the band broke up, Bruce was 8ish Clay was like 6-7 Floyd was like 4 probably and branch was a few months old. Unless of course JD and Bruce are like fraternal twins or something with John being a few minutes older, which they might be considering they started their careers at the same time.

Troll aging is wild and it’s crazy to think that they could have been this young but tiny was sing dancing and driving at 1 month old so they age at weird rates.

The most wild part about this is that Bruce would have 13 kids at like 28-29 years old which is wild but might be the case cause all his kids look basically the same age and who knows how many sets of twins and or triplets he has.

Frankly I don’t think the writers actually pay that much attention to time lines and continuity. I could be wrong but that’s just kind of how I see it. Timelines and concepts seem convoluted at best and I don’t particularly mind - as it’s aimed at kids - but I can understand why people might get a little frustrated.

Troll aging is unpredictable and absolutely WILD even if you go with older ages. Personally, I usually have JD being about 16 when the band break up. And as much as the others being younger and leave seems insane to us, it seems like with trolls, they can, at least generally can take care of themselves. I try to balance human realism and the troll surrealism a bit which is why I don’t generally use those ages of 9 and under. But I also don’t do exact human realism cause well, I just don’t.

I guess everyone does things a little differently and you’re right! It’s totally interesting. I think the Vacay people are probably more prone to having a bunch of kids than trolls. But idk maybe you’re right and Bruce and Brandy had a bunch of sets of twins and triplets and whatever.

Conclusion - Troll ages and maturing rates are absolutely wild and unpredictable lol

I’m not someone that particularly cares about a ship being canon or not, in fact I would rather the media I consume have no romance at all (giving my blog confusing yes I know)

But there is something about the canon ties between Shanks and Mihawk that drives me feral with need to see what their whole deal is.

Because like there are so many little inconsequential details that when taking separately seem pathetic and weak. But then put together it feels like it paints the picture of a larger undeniable connection and understanding between two wildly different men.

The fact that their main color is both red (Mihawk’s is a more wine dark red than Shanks’ bright red and a little more “subtle” given that Shanks is literally called red hair) but even then their main symbols, their identifying features, are red! Mihawk’s eyes and Shanks hair (yes while I love the gold and think that’s better I cannot ignore the fact that Oda consistently colors in Mihawk’s eyes red even though the gold is infinitely more popular)

They have the same birthday, are practically the same height, both with the promises to our two main protagonists to meet them at the top with a parting “gift”, both serve as a mentor to the protagonist (mihawk literally thought zoro how to kill him 😭), both with the bird(ish) iconography.

The fact that Mihawk, Mihawk! A man whose introduction was that he didn’t care much about anything and caused destruction on a whim, cares enough about what Shanks thinks to mentally apologize before trying to kill luffy (what the fuck).

The fact that whitebeard felt the need to reference his duel with Mihawk in his conversation with Shanks, despite not really being very relevant to the conversation and the fact that this is the first we’ve seen shanks in years and it is brought up in the same context as his relationship with Buggy (an already established relationship) reveals his relationship to Roger seems to point to the fact that this duel between Mihawk and Shanks is an important relationship to shanks. It couldn’t just be to show strength because he was about to clash with whitebeard the strongest man. It’s also hard to notice that those two relationships didn’t end particularly well for shanks.

Also the fact that it was Mihawk out of every character , Mihawk that brought luffy’s bounty to Shanks. Something he obviously knew would mean a lot to him. I used to think the scene was just there to show us how big a deal Shanks actually is like look at that fun childish alcoholic gang inspired our main hero? He’s actually a super big deal and he used to spar with the strongest character by far we had seen at that point (it wasn’t even close) and they fought on equal footing. It added a new layer of mystery to Shanks.

But it’s also the fact that even now with Mihawk’s bounty Shanks was mentioned and he’s the only one who this was mentioned for. Crocodile is just for his df and intelligence and they don’t mention that he literally tried and almost succeeded in subjugating a country and he was beat by luffy “or smoker given how many marines actually know the truth” even buggy who was literally Shanks’ sworn brother under the pirate king doesn’t get a mention like that. But Shanks and this duel is so integral to Mihawk’s character that it’s mentioned along with the only other long lasting fact we know about him and that is that he is the World’s Strongest Swordsman. Isn’t that fucking insane.

And like I feel insane scrapping all these details together as proof of something because they are all (besides the duel) the barest bones of a connection but god it is actually driving me insane.

And I’m not saying Mishanks is going to become canon or that it should or that I even particularly want it too. What I do want is to see how deeply these two are connected. What are these red strings of fate tying them to each other. Why can’t apparently ten years of little contact sever it? I swear to god if it’s actually nothing much I will lose my fucking mind. If nothing ever comes of all of this I will actually go insane. How can some people look at this and not see foreshadowing!?!?!!

What do you think about the costumes on the gilded age?

I haven't started S2, but I was pretty impressed! There's so many gowns that are just straight up recreations of historical garments. Kasia Walicka-Maimone is very talented and I'm so happy she's getting a big budget show like this.

There was a couple clunkers on Carrie as Bertha Russell, but I can let that go seeing as 1) she was a last minute casting change, and 2) she was 8 months pregnant when filming on S1 wrapped! Seriously, kudos to the costume team because there was only one moment where I was like 'yeah she's pregnant'. The red gown makes up for everything though lol.

honestly i need to revisit the doc i made for them a long time ago. a lot of the characters i didnt find a perfect fit for anyway, but i DO have some that i still think are good matches and did contribute to some varying degrees of inspiration for writing the characters

Coralclaw - Cassandra from Dragon Age: Inquisition (was a really big inspiration for some previous renditions of Coral, but the current version we know is fairly removed personality wise. The voice still fits decently tho) Crowstar - Mallory from Archer Honeypaw - Alphonse from Fullmetal Alchemist

Mixed feelings! Glad it has an anime now and that ppl are enjoying it, because its really good!

I myself think its annoying when ppl are like "im gatekeeping x media bc its important to me 😡" so thats not how I feel on the other end. It has impacted lots of ppl so if it can get a bigger reach and impact more, thats good. ^_^

i know im like... the Tragedy Enjoyer and all... but I do really really hope that in Veilguard there's a solid option between "happily ever after" and "i am against this elf and he must die" for Solas/Solavellan. Like I hope you can play a character in love with him and still make the choice to kill/defeat him without it negating the romance aspect, or something that's still a way to negate his power/abilities but with it being a regretful last resort choice and not something the inquisitor actively wants to do otherwise. this is because i love pain and being hurt emotionally.

??? okay after seeing that those early development sheets from the pokemon leak say elesa is fifteen in BW i'm choosing to take all of this as just. initial ideas that most likely shifted during development because it literally makes no sense like that would make her and bianca around the same age when she's very clearly portrayed in the game itself as an adult with far more life experience than bianca who's able to advise her and get her father to back down from babying her. it also makes skyla/elesa a little weird as a ship since skyla's character sheet says skyla is 18 and it makes the way elesa is drawn in a lot of official art just plain creepy, like?? 😭 to me this is a prime example of why you can't take things like this to be fully canon because things are always changing from when a game, or movie, or basically any media is initially concieved to when it's completed. i'd bet anything that the devs may have originally thought she should be 15, may have drawn up some concept art or sprites for a version of her that was 15, and then changed their minds later and aged her up. because there is just no way at all.
